Salary Take-Home Estimate Guide
A salary take-home estimate helps compare offers and plan monthly cash flow. It is a planning estimate, not a payroll statement.
Core formula
Gross monthly pay = annual salary divided by 12. Estimated take-home pay = gross monthly pay minus insurance-like deductions and monthly tax.
Useful inputs
Adjust pension-like, health-like, care-like, and employment-like deduction rates. Enter tax separately when you have a payroll table or sample payslip.
What changes the result
Dependents, non-taxable income, bonus structure, stock compensation, benefits, country rules, and company policy can all change actual take-home pay.
Limit
Use official payroll, tax, and insurance tables for final decisions. This site does not provide tax or payroll advice.
Worked example
For an annual gross salary of 81,000,000 KRW, gross monthly pay is 6,750,000 KRW. Using adjustable example
rates of 4.5%, 3.6%, 0.5%, and 0.9% produces 641,250 KRW of insurance-like deductions. Adding 650,000 KRW of
monthly income and local tax gives total deductions of 1,291,250 KRW and estimated take-home pay of 5,458,750
KRW per month.
The example is intentionally rate-driven instead of claiming to reproduce a current Korean payslip. Real
payroll can apply contribution ceilings, non-taxable allowances, dependent deductions, year-end settlement,
bonuses, and employer-specific rules. Enter figures from an official payroll table or a recent payslip when
you need a closer comparison.
How to compare compensation scenarios
Keep cash and benefits separate
Meal allowances, transport, equity, retirement contributions, and insurance paid by the employer can change total compensation without appearing in monthly take-home pay.
Model irregular pay separately
Do not divide a conditional bonus by 12 unless the comparison assumes it will be paid. Signing bonuses and stock compensation also need their own timing and tax assumptions.
Compare like with like
Use the same deduction assumptions for competing offers. Changing both salary and rates at once makes it difficult to see which factor caused the difference.
Confirm before deciding
Ask the employer or payroll professional for an official estimate when a job, tax filing, loan, or other material decision depends on the number.
